The Belfry Golf course. www.thebelfry.co.uk/ Set in 550 acres of the finest countryside in Birmingham West Midlands was the wedding venue choice for Angela and Chris from Nuneaton Warwickshire in the East Midlands. I feel so privilege to have had a full year of wonderful brides and not one bridezillas, this wedding for me has put the icing on the proverbial wedding cake. Angela and Chris were the perfect wedding couple they were relaxed from the moment the day started right through to the end of their wedding night. Angela looked stunning with her Italian looks and her photogenic appearance, as if this wasnt enough she had such grace and style I truly believed that I could not take a bad picture of her. My day was completed by one of the Belfry wedding coordinators asking if they could recommend me to their wedding clients because they love my fresh approach to wedding photography. Life just doesn’t get any better.

My end of year review

Well I’m near the end of my first year in my own wedding photography business, so I guess its time to access if I have achieved my goals and to set knew ones for a new wedding season. As a contemporary Wedding photographer I take my role seriously in an un-serious way, My wedding images need to be fun, stylish and current. I place a great deal of importance on self assessment and self improvement, I have noticed my style changing and I love the image results I am achieving, I’m not saying I’m the finished product, I don’t think I ever want to be the finished article because half the attraction for me is the element of experimentation, I never want my wedding photographic work to become conveyor belt quality. I love looking at the amazing photographic talent out there and taking the odd slice of their style and blending it into my work, I would never want to become a clone of somebody else why would I, the fun of wedding photography is thinking outside the box and creating something new.

Salon One in Bilton Rugby Warwickshire

I recently photographed a wedding in Rugby Warwickshire and a lady from Salon One in Bilton Rugby Warwickshire was styling the brides hair, I received a phone call a few weeks later, from the salon owner, explaining how they loved my working methods and creativity and asked if I could work with them on a few of their projects over the next few months. Mark & Kristina’s Wedding St Peter’s Claybrooke Parva

Mark and Kristina’s chosen location for their Wedding was at St Peter’s church at Claybrooke Parva, Leiecstershire, East Midlands. Then onto the Best Western, Ullesthorpe Court Hotel Leicestershire for their Wedding reception. The day started at the family home in Ullesthorpe, Leicestershire where I met Kristina’s lovely family, I was welcomed and looked after, but I was also told that there were three important images that I must capture of the day. The first was an Union Jack flag that was at half mast, the family really feel for the armed forces and their families especially in Afganistan. The second item was the family front gate, it was designed by Kristian as a young child out of horse shoes. The third item was the outside family brick built toilet or the Karsi, I was told by Kristian’s mum how as a child this was the only family loo for many years and she can remember as a small child walking down the garden which was full of snow to use the little brick Karsi, I have to say it was an impressive little building and made sure I photographed Kristina near it.

Julia & Adams Home Photoshoot, Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire

After leaving my home in Hinckley, Leicestershire early on saturday morning, I set off on my short journey to Stratford Upon Avon Warwickshire (http://www.stratford-upon-avon.co.uk/)to meet Julia and Adam and their two beautiful daughters at their stunning family home, just a few minutes walk away from Stratford Upon Avon historic center. The purpose of our meeting was for two special reasons, in the first instance I was asked to photograph their young family as a gift for Adam’s birthday. The second reason was to discus their forth coming wedding on New Years Eve 2011 at the impressive Kilworth House in Leicestershire, The family photoshoot went well and they will receive some beautiful images of their lovely daughters, Im looking forward to meeting with them again and see how their plans are going for their wedding at Kilworth House. http://www.kilworthhouse.co.uk/

Gary & Donna’s Wedding in Rugby Warwickshire

One of the main ingredients for a perfect wedding is fun, well Gary and Donna took this advice quite literally and smothered this ingredient all over their Rugby wedding day plans. From the moment I met the girls at their home in Rugby, where at one stage there were 14 women and myself in one bedroom, right through to their first wedding day dance, where Gary and Donna along with the chief bridesmaid and the best man did a dance routine that had their guests crying with laughter. Their Wedding Ceremony was at St Marks Church, Bilton, Rugby, Warwickshire. The Vicar was such a star who made me feel most welcome into his church. Then it was off in a horse and carriage to Rugby town Football Club.
Throughout their wedding day I met some fantastic people who looked after me and at times abused me for their own enjoyment.

Halstead House Farm, Halstead, Tilton-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire

Halstead House (http://www.halsteadhouse.co.uk/), Leicestershire in Tilton-on-the-hill was the location for the entire wedding of Suzanne & Ian.
Suzzane & Ian had complete trust and confidence in my style of wedding photography, but as luck would have it 90% of my style is watching and enjoying the real beauty of a wedding unfold before me, why would I stop this truly emotional roller coaster in the pursuit of a perfectly posed image, when story telling images are firing at
me from all directions.
I have been looking forward to Suzanne’s and Ian’s wedding for some time for a number of reasons. Suzanne was the first person to contact myself during the launch of my new venture, regarding wedding photography, after a doing her research on line via google, she explained to me how they were looking for a wedding photographer that had a unique style, that would capture their wedding day in a natural way, and apparently I fitted the bill.
Halstead house was reason number two, I just love this venue, it has everything a wedding couple could need and for me it was a dream, a photographers paradise. I hope you love these wedding images as much as I did creating them.

Wedding at Ansty Hall, Ansty, Coventry, Warwickshire.

Ansty hall in Ansty, Coventry, Warwickshire was the location of last saturdays wedding of Sarah and Mike. The weather was perfect, the sun was nice and hot but with the added bonus of a lovely breeze. Ansty hall is a lovely venue for a wedding as it has all the grandeur of a stately home along with a fabulous air conditioned orangery. Once again this year I have felt privileged to have photographed such a friendly relaxed wedding, the family and friends were so welcoming it made photographing their wedding day a real joy. The guests were treated with a magical act with the help of a magician, who had all the guest amazed by his slight of hand tricks and his mind reading skills. The bride who has been around horses all her life was treated to a surprise ride with two beautiful white horses that were dressed for the occasion along with a tradition open carriage. Thanks again to all the family and guest at Sarah and Mike’s wedding for making me feel a real part of the wedding day.

Summer Photoshoots

Is it me or is this summer turning out to be a summer to remember for all the right reasons.
My off the hip style of photography, blends in well with these summer nights, walking around random parts of the east midlands, you get to see some beautiful locations and be inspired by the slightest of things.
These images were taken below are at the New Forest In Leicestershire and the skate board images were taken in Hinckley and at Stoney Stanton skate board park both in Leicestershire. Creating images for me has always been about capturing the real personalities of the people, do you think the boy on the skate board would like being in a studio or do you think he would prefer showing off his tricks in his natural enviroment. I love this set of images, for me they tell a story and capture the kids enjoying this long hot summer.

The images I display on my site are images I’m proud of, wedding images I believe stand out from other wedding photographers, for me they are an extension of my personality, these images are thought out but executed with style and fun firmly in the forefront of my mind. So do I photograph natural moments of people interacting with each other, of course I do, a good proportion of the days images will be of this style, there will be so many moments throughout your wedding day that will scream out to be photographed in a natural unobtrusive way, I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the bridal party getting ready in the morning, the location is always bursting with naturally fly on the wall opportunities. The moment you come out of your wedding ceremony and are greeted and hugged by your friends and love ones is another hotspot of “as it happens photography” I love to capture these images as they show people looking truly relaxed and happy.

What about the details!
These for me are the cornerstone of your wedding day images. I’m of the opinion that these images complete the story of your wedding day. I am compelled to capture these little treasures, your dress, your shoes, the flowers, your wedding venue even the flowers in the ground as these tell the viewer the time of year the wedding took place. On their own these images may not demand centre stage, but they make a fantastic support for the other images within your wedding day story book collection.
